  • This project has been a partnership between Charnwood Arts, Longslade Community College, Anstey Martin High School, The Library Services, and the DFEE. Initially the project was set up for a small selection of young people from Anstey Martin High School.
  • The project has been designed and carried out by young people for young people, with the intention of developing new skills in communication, art mediums, team-building and information technology. Some of the main objectives have been to smooth the young people's transition from Anstey Martin to Lonslade by introducing them to the youth tutors and technology they may encounter in their new school.
  • Charnwood Arts, the project co-ordinators, were interested in developing new skills around art mediums including photography, sculpture, graphic design, web design, image manipulation, creative writing and essentially education in an informal environment.
  • The library service were interested in promoting and improving the facilities of Anstey Library for the wider community, providing new computers, internet access and cameras, both digital and traditional.
  • The DFEE were the funding body behind the project. The department was interested in how the young people respond to informal education and the changes that may occur in their skills and development throughout the six months of the project.
  • The direction of the project was decided by the young people to design and develop a web-based publication which explored their community through various mediums, the conclusion of which is this website.
  • The young people have conducted themselves in a professional manner by setting themselves tasks in photography, web design, creative writing and journalism. This has enabled them to make decisions, problem solve and produce work of a high standard.
  • This project has been a starting point for all partners and participants to establish links for further development work around youth arts, culture and issues.
  • We would like to thank all of the people involved in the project and look forward to future developments.
