Anstey Angels

Hi, we're a group of year 9/10 students. Our aims were to explore our surrounding community of Anstey. We call ourselves the 'Anstey Angels' and there are about 15 of us. We met once a week to discuss what Anstey has to offer to all age groups. Through doing this we hoped to improve our skills with computers, Internet, research and planning. We have also gained experience in using digital and traditional cameras, Information technology skills, image manipulation, creative writing, graphic design and other art-based mediums. This has enabled us to produce this image-based web-site.

Our biggest dream for Anstey is to have our own Youth Centre. This project has been the beginning of establishing relationships between us young people and the rest of the community.

The whole point of this project is to begin promoting the positive aspects of Anstey. There are many people living in Anstey who think that there are not enough things to do, but here are some examples of just a few things that we do have:

  • 2 Dance Schools (Zena Costells and Tindles)
  • There is a football club which meets every Sunday
  • There are two parks in Anstey, but these are mainly for much younger children
  • Scouts
  • Cubs
  • Guides
  • Brownies
  • Venture Scounts
  • Rugby teams
  • Library
  • Many shops

Only a short bus ride away there is:

  • Alot of shops in Beaumont Leys or Leicester City Centre
  • A Leisure centre with lots of sporting facilities
  • Bradgate Park

Lastly there are three schools in Anstey, one High school and two Primary schools. These offer a few, but not many, facilities for teenagers.

We would like to see a cafe/restaurant that is good for teenagers. The only cafe's we have in Anstey are posh and mainly for adults.

We hope our project will be successful. Thank you for looking at our website!
